The employability challenge

Young people need more than theory to stand out.

12.8%

of UK 16 to 24-year-olds were not in education, employment or training in October to December 2025.

The transition from education to work is becoming harder. Employers increasingly value communication, adaptability, creativity and problem solving alongside qualifications.

Schools are also being asked to strengthen employer encounters, connect curriculum learning to careers and provide more meaningful work experience.

Students need practical evidence of what they can do, not simply another lesson about employability.

Why social enterprise?

Business skills become more powerful when purpose is real.

Social enterprises trade to solve social or environmental problems and reinvest most of their profits in their mission. They give students a compelling reason to learn how ideas, evidence, collaboration and communication work together.

100,000+social enterprises contribute over £60bn to the UK economy.
